SNSD to drop variety appearances for Jap debut?

So Nyeo Shi Dae will be releasing their debut Japanese single coming 8th September.

The girls will be releasing their debut Japanese single ‘Genie’ on 8th September under Nayutawave Records of Univeral Music label. For this single, there will be Japanese and Korean version of the song ‘Genie’ and together with the CD will be a MV DVD, photobook and 9 trading cards.


Ahead of their debut, the girls will also be releasing a DVD ‘New Beginning of Girls’ Generation’ on 11th August with the MVs of all their hit songs. And coming 25th August, the girls will be holding their first large scale showcase for 10K fans.

SNSD forgives harmful composite photo artists

So Nyeo Shi Dae members forgive the malicious netizens.
It has been known that 92 netizens caught in a case of uploaded nude composite photos of So Nyeo Shi Dae members have escaped from a jail sentence thanks to a petition carried out.

Together, there are 13 members of Super Junior who sang this song. Since all 13 divide up a single song, each member can call himself a “singer” after singing for only four seconds.
Lately there are increasing cases in which solo parts of a song last no more than a few seconds, as the number of members in the idol groups such as Super Junior, Girl’s Generation and After School increase. This is contributing to the pop culture in which those who rely on looks or conversation skills are considered “singers” regardless of their singing abilities.

Idol Group Members Sing 16 Seconds on Average
According to Dong-A Ilbo’s measurements of solo parts, seven idol groups (Girls’ Generation, Super Junior, 4minute, After School, Infinite, MBLAQ, f(x)) appearing on MBC’s “Show Music Core” (July 10), SBS’s “Inkigayo” (July 11) and KBS’s “Music Bank” (June 25), sang for 16 seconds per person on average. Because a song lasts around 3.5 minutes on average, each member of those group sang less than one-tenth of a song, excluding the chorus.
Among the groups, Girl’s Generation (singing “Oh!”) had the shortest solo parts, averaging 9.4 seconds per part. The main vocal Taeyeon sang for 22 seconds, while Seohyeon’s solo parts — two lines consisting of “oppa look at me, just look at me” and “listen, really” — amounted to 5 seconds. When After School sang “Bang!”, members Nana and Lizzy had no solo parts; instead, the two sang together for 8 seconds. Jooyeon’s solo part — “The heart-thumping night, my heart is oh oh oh oh” — lasted 4 seconds.
Infinite, singing “Come Back Again,” had the greatest time differential among the members’ solo parts. While the main vocal Kim Sunggyu sang for 29 seconds, Lee Sung-Jong, Lee Seung-Yeol and L sang for 1, 3 and 4 seconds respectively. The words that Lee Sung-Jong sang alone were four letters (다 거짓말 “all lies”). Lee Seung-Yeol only had the line, “Feels like I’m going to die, my head hurts.” Lee Young-Joon, director of Infinite’s management company, said: “It is not that the members have different singing abilities. It is more the case that the process of assigning the solo parts while taking the tone of this particular song into consideration made the parts of certain members relatively smaller.”

Netizens surprised with SHINee's ‘MR-removed’ performance video

SHINee once again proves their perfect live skills through a MR-removed video released.

SHINee had their comeback stage with their 2nd full length album title song ‘Lucifer’ and ‘Up & Down’ performances on KBS 2TV Music Bank on 23rd July.

The video released after the performance online had garnered great interests and through the MR-removed video, it can be seen that the boys did a 100% live performance. And their live performance skills is comparable to their CD recorded vocal standards.

BoA's album to release August 2nd

BoA’s official Korean website (boa.smtown.com) recently updated itself to let her fans know that she will drop her sixth album on August 2nd instead of the 5th.
The album carries the title Hurricane Venus and I’m sure the album will work like a hurricane; come fast and leave a devastating impact on the competition. The name Venus was most likely named for the Roman goddess of love and beauty.
August 25th will mark the 10th year anniversary since her debut, so the album will be dropping right around then to celebrate her 10-year anniversary.

SHINee’s 2nd album ‘Lucifer’ goes up to the #1 spot on various on and offline music charts as soon as it was released.
The album title song ‘Lucifer’ is up #1 on various music chart real time chart when it was released on 19th July. And on 20th July, the song is up #1 on various music site daily charts like Dosirak, Cyworld and Bugs. Apart from that the album is also #1 on the daily album sales chart on Hanteo site. SNSD gets the green light for Japanese debut

Research: How do we recognise idol singers these days?

How do we recognise the idols of this time?

Mnet music research centre did an investigation on 1000 male and female adults for the whole month of June. The investigation looked into the 57 singers/teams who are the most active currently in the Korean music scene in terms of vocal capabilities, appearances, amiability, talent, performance and variety.

And through the survey, it was known that other than vocal capabilities, the idols are ranked very high in all the categories. In terms of their live performances, 16 ranks out of the top 20 ranks belongs to idol singers. And in terms of appearances, the girlgroups have dominated the rankings. Of the top 10 rankings we see the names of popular girlgroups like So Nyeo Shi Dae, KARA, f(x), After School, 2NE1, T-ara, 4Minute etc.


In terms of amiability, girlgroups like So Nyeo Shi Dae, Brown Eyed Girls, KARA etc also dominated the charts. And for variety shows, we see that the male idol groups like 2AM, Super Junior and 2PM are dominating the top 10 rankings.

What is eye catching is that group So Nyeo Shi Dae is #1 for all categories except for vocal capabilities and amiability. We can see the ‘So Nyeo Shi Dae power’ following their ‘Gee’ syndrome last year.

But for vocal capabilities category, we don’t see idols up on the top 10 rankings. Instead names like Big Mama, Gummy, Lee SeungChul, Shin SeungHoon are voted up high on rankings.

It seems that there has always been doubts regarding the musicality of idol groups these days.

Amber to be absent for f(x) ‘Mr. Boogie’ performances

Member Amber was not present for f(x)’s performance on MBC Music Core.

f(x) performed their followup hit from their 1st minialbum ‘Mr. Boogie’ on 17th July on MBC Music Core, after the promotions for their title song ‘NU ABO’ ended. However for the performance that day, only 4 f(x) members were present for the performance. It is revealed that Amber had injured her ankle and will not be able to carry out the choreography. With that, the girls will be putting up special stages as 4 members both on 17th and 18th July on the weekend music shows.

A SM Ent official said, “This is a small surprise event for fans. The girls will continue to greet fans through their individual activities.”

Khun disappoints Victoria and relationship becomes awkward on We Got Married

2PM’s Nichkhun and f(x)’s Victoria will go on a ‘deviation trip’, where they will be traveling to a place nobody lives in.

This coming 17th at 5PM on WGM, an episode of Nichkhun and Victoria’s deviation trip is set to air. As this trip was their second time meeting as Nickhun had schedules in America for 3 weeks, the meet was all the more special.

The couple was nervous as they got on the train due to it being their ‘first trip’ together, but it was not long until their relationship started to go downhill. Micky Yoochun: “With YunHo and ChangMin, we still get along like we used to”

Micky Yoochun, member of the group TVXQ, said, “With U-know Yunho and Choikang Changmin, nothing has changed and we still get along like we used to in the past.”

On 15 July, at the press conference held at Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, the filming location for KBS2′s drama [SungKyunKwan Scandal], Micky Yoochun said, “They were both busy (Yunho and Changmin) so we didn’t contact each other as much as expected” and “But after that (the lawsuit), our relationship didn’t change much.”

Since the lawsuit for an injunction against their exclusive contracts with SM Entertainment was filed last year, this is the first time that Micky Yoochun made a solo public appearance.

When asked how he passed his time then, Micky Yoochun said, “I spent it peacefully, learning music, composing, practicing acting and also went to watch movies.” Also, “As we were very busy, I never had the time to visit my parents so I made the decision to spend time with them.”

Micky YooChun gives a shy response when asked about his first acting attempt and his bed scene with actress Park MinYeong.

The press conference of upcoming KBS drama ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal was held on 15h July at the filming site of the drama. When asked about the bed scene he had to shoot with Park MinYeong, Micky said, “The bed scene with Park MinYeong.. Well in most dramas, we only get to see the bed…right?”

And about his first acting attempt, Micky said, “I have always had the Dong Bang Shin Ki Micky YooChun image since my singer debut, I think I can show various images through the characters in acting. And I am envious about that, and have decided to take up the attempt this time.”

World superstar BoA recently participated in a pictorial with help from popular makeup artist Gordon Espinet as she got to show off a totally different side from her usual self.

Gordon is currently in Asia working on various activities, and as soon as he heard of BoA, he sent a love call to which she gladly accepted.
Gordon said, “It’s hard to find a perfect face like BoA’s. Even though she has somewhat of a mysterious face, it’s superior and beyond beautiful.”
BoA also left some comments, “It was a totally different atmosphere from what I’m used to, but I loved participating and the makeup was just fantastic.”
The makeup artist based the photo shoot on popular and expensive makeup brand MAC, using specifically 2010 AW (Autumn Winter) brand which seems to be the current trend. The full pictorial will be released in August.

SM Entertainment - SHINee's comeback on the 23rd?

SHINee's agency, SM, said in a recent report that SHINee will have their comeback on the 23rd at KBS Music Bank. They will release their 2nd album on the 19th.

Since the 8th of July, they have been releasing each SHINee member's concept photos one by one. They were supposed to have their comeback on the 16th, but Minho had injured himself while filming on the 8th.

Minho has been recovering well, and is currently in physical therapy. So the 23rd should give him enough time to recover completely and perform their song.

This will be their comeback after 9 months. Meanwhile, a medley of 9 of their new album's songs will be released online on the 15. Please anticipate it!

Donghae is very emotional

Super Junior’s cute member Donghae rose to the status as “king of tears” through his appearance on SBS Strong Heart (Kang Shim Jang) on the 13th.

During the show, this singer introduced himself as the king of tears while fellow Super Junior member Shindong added on to Donghae’s confession as the tear king.

According to Shindong, Donghae cries a lot and often gets very emotional. He said, “During the awards ceremony rehearsal stage, Donghae looked up at the ceiling and started tearing. I asked him, ‘Why are you crying?’ and he answered, ‘Our team members seem to be tired and losing their strength.’”


Additionally, Donghae also revealed that during the time when many of the Super Junior members couldn’t perform on stage together due to their own individual activities, he felt very sad and became teary eyed because he thought of his members like family.

Kyuhyun had a 20% chance of surviving after his accident

Yesterday, we reported that Super Junior’s Kyuhyun shared the details about his car accident from three years ago on Strong Heart. Now, the episode has aired and the full story about his horrific experience has been revealed.

Kyuhyun said on the episode that aired on the 13th,

“I got in a car accident after coming back from work in Yeoido. The car turned around and I was laid on the road. I was unconscious for four days. My ribs poked my lungs and the doctor told me I had a 20% chance of surviving.”

He continued,

“The surgery had to go through my neck but my father told the doctor that I was a singer and asked him to perform the surgery in another way. So the doctor performed the surgery through the sides of the body.”

He also added,

“My father was originally against me becoming a singer and to think that he protected my dreams and career while I was unconscious made me cry. After five months, I got on stage again and I felt like I was living a new life.”

Kyuhyun teared up while sharing the story.

Suju Leeteuk's younger sister becomes an actress

It looks like we’ll be seeing more of Super Junior Leeteuk’s sister Park In Young because she recently signed with Mask Entertainment, a well known talent agency located in Korea.

An official from the agency stated through a press release on the 13th, “An exclusive contract was signed with Park In Young last month. We are very confident that she’ll become a great actress.”
The company also manages various other actors including Lee Bum Soo, Park Sung Woong, and Kim Kwang Young.

Park In Young recently finished recording movies Balloons and Yoido, and will further practice her acting skills.
